Affordable Bliss for a Blustery Day

With the wintery days just around the corner, my visit to the Echo showroom came at the perfect time! Though I was salivating over practically everything from their clothes, to gloves, to their claim-to-fame scarves, I have managed to pick a few of my favorite pieces to highlight for all of my readers:
tribal graphic muffler
Hop on the tribal trend for winter with Echo's Tribal Graphic Muffler ($48)! It comes in 3 more colors, and for under 50 bucks, it's a chic way to accessorize for cold weather on the cheap!

textured rib gloves
Casual meets elegant in Echo's Textured Rib Gloves ($30) - soft, warm, and a touch of old Hollywood glamour!

Animal prints are everywhere this season, and a scarf can be a great way to get the look without completely turning into a jungle animal. I myself am pretty weary about letting leopard and zebra fabrics into my wardrobe, but with Echo's Animal Fringe Muffler ($38) I can get the perfect touch of fur-like flair.

The Echo Infinity Neck Ring ($35) is a genius reinvention of the scarf! It's the add-on that can bring any casual ensemble up to the next level, and it comes in tons of other colors and patterns!

Though they're known for their accessories, Echo surprised me with some amazing ready-to-wear pieces, especially their Color Burst Vest ($88).

Pair it with a dark tank, jeans and heels for a night out, or flats and a tee during the day - trés cute!

cascade ruffle vest
For work or play, you'll look smart and chic in Echo's Cascade Ruffle Vest. This rich-looking satin garment clocks in at a mere $42, comes in 4 fun colors, and will look great paired with anything from skinny jeans to a tight pencil skirt - just be sure to keep the bottom of your outfit more form-fitting as this top's fabulousness is in its voluminous bows and folds.

MUST HAVE!

echo touch gloves
Finally someone has solved the problem of texting in the cold! Echo presents the Echo Touch Gloves ($30), the solution to the issue of keeping in touch while still shielding our hands form the chilling winter winds! Made from special microfiber, the tips of the pointer and thumb fingers let you access everything on your touch screen phone while keeping your hands nice and toasty with the wool blend that makes up the rest of the glove. Thank you Echo for this long-overdue winter accessory - available in both regular and sports versions, and seven amazing colors!

With their beautiful clothing and accessories for cold weather, Echo will almost make you welcome the day the temperature drops ...almost!

A Clever Disguise

my article via: MetroWize.com

A guide to the best costumes to give you a little inspiration if you’re stuck on what to wear this year.

Girls

Suddenly it’s October, the leaves are changing, the air is cooling, and you are beginning to notice pumpkins turning up everywhere… Oh, that’s right, it’s almost Halloween, the one time of year when you get to express your creativity and take on the identity of anyone (or anything) you like! If you find yourself scrambling to figure out what to dress up as, have no fear! We have compiled a guide to the best Halloween costumes using history, pop culture, and the influences of your favorite celebs for dress-up ideas that are fun, sexy, comical, and inventive – enjoy!

The Superheroine

Kim Kardashian and Jada Pinkett Smith show us that you can’t go wrong playing a strong, sultry female who can save the world and look good doing it! Whether you take the identity of an existing super girl, like Wonder Woman or Bat Girl, or add a feminine twist to a traditionally masculine hero, like Jada’s interpretation of Superman, leave the damsel in distress at home and show that you are both strong and seductive!

The Villainess

Of course, if being a bad girl is more your style, why not embrace the villainess in you! Take a hint from Heidi Klum, who has always gone all out with her costumes, from the man-eating Hindu goddess Kali, to a dark and seductive vampire! Terri Hatcher also looks great in her costume as the evil queen from Alice in Wonderland. Or, take a page from the Alexander McQueen Fall 2009 ready-to-wear show, where he sent a look down the runway that was distinctly DeVille, Cruella Deville.

Blast from the Past

We can’t get enough of a little history repeating! From donning Madonna’s iconic “Like A Virgin” ‘80’s look, like Audrina Patridge, to paying homage to a great queen, like Blake Lively’s Cleopatra ensemble, it’s easy to see that the past is here to stay! You don’t even have to have a specific figure in mind, as Kelly Ripa proves dressed as a long-haired hippie chick – groovy!

Boys

Alright guys, there are never enough of you that let Halloween be a time to show us another side of yourself! This year, let these Hollywood hunks inspire you to step it up a notch – you never know who you may run into that has a Captain Hook or Batman fetish!

A Masked Man

We all know that celebrities love to be under cover, so why not take a hint from them and do it in style on Halloween? Sean “Diddy” Combs is one man that is definitely not afraid to go all out with…well, anything, and his Halloween costumes are no exception. Check out his V for Vendetta masked freedom fighter get-up. Mystery is always hot.

A Man in Uniform

He may have been dressing in tandem with his new wife Mariah Carey, but when Nick Cannon put on his firefighter costume, girls around the world were messing with their smoke alarms in hopes that a similarly sexy fireman would come to their rescue!

Animal Instinct

As Jake Gyllenhaal shows us in his monkey suit, there is nothing wrong with a little Halloween humor – a.k.a. if a too-calculated costume isn’t your style, don’t be afraid to be something goofy and hairy!

Couples Costume

It can be sickly sweet, or just sick, but if you and your significant other have decided to pair up in the costume department, some celebs can give you a little inspiration.

Foodie Fashion

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon practically crave each other, maybe that’s inspired their milk and cookies costume! Halloween is an awesome time to find funny pairs to dress up as, Gwen Stefani and hubby Gavin Rossdale, definitely a sizzling couple, show us dressed as eggs and bacon.

Don’t wanna shell out major bucks for a costume you’ll only wear once - how many times can you be a foam ketchup bottle-? Many places will rent costumes, or you can use your own clothes in a new and creative way – good luck!

The Lovely Bones

Skull, 1976 - Andy Warhol

Skulls are definitely having their moment right now - and a long one at that! - but who can argue with the infinitely bad-ass symbol of tough chicks and dudes everywhere? Numerous artists, designers, and whole subcultures have embraced the skull to the point where it has become an iconic representation of strength, rebellion, even rock and roll! I myself have had a longtime affinity for skulls, and can't help but sport them on jewelry, clothing, and shoes (though never all at once!). Thus, I was inspired to bring a little of my current decomposed obsession to my faithful readers ... enjoy!

1. E. Vil Cashmere Crystal Pullover 2. Alexander McQueen Studded Skull Ring 3. Delia*s Garden Skull Tee - SALE $14.99 !! 4. Alexander McQueen Black Crystal Skull Clutch 5. Vans Authentic Skull sneakers 6.Fellon Glam Skull T-Shirt - $19 - 21 !!! 7. Jade Jezebel Jagger Skull Locket Pendant Necklace

Skull jewelry is also one of the many things that you can find amazing versions of if you live in a big city with street-side vendors - I just found a cool stand owned by a really nice and subtly stylish woman who makes awesome handmade wooden and silver skull bracelets (among other jewelry) in NYC - unique and beautiful!

Andy Warhol - one of my all-time favorite artists - was an avid user of skulls in his work,
from photos to paintings, capitalizing on the iconography and the irony of the hollowed human head.

Sculpture, skulls, and surf culture collide with the surfboard wax collaboration between Mr. Zog's Sex Wax and the Anderson Brothers:

Even the foodies are in on the frenzy!

David Sykes shows us food can be scary and fun! ... And the fact that this lollipop comes in chocolate definitely doesn't hurt!

So, in short, skulls are not just for Harley-riding Hell's Angels and spell-casting witches anymore, in fact they have invaded the surf scene, fashion world, candy corner, and art sector ... though the feeling of cool rebellion will always come with the cranium bone!
