In Her Shoes

Are you dying to step like the Duchess? Well, you may not have her moves, but now you can get your hands on her dancin' shoes thanks to her new line of women's footwear: Fergie shoes.
From sneakers, to gladiator-style flats, to pointy-toed pumps, this black-eyed pea has made an attempt to provide all the footwear a girl could need! While some of her designs are, well, questionable (note the plethora of cork platforms and way-too-white heels,) overall her crop is ripe for the picking! Prices are semi-reasonable, ranging from about $60 to $130...
Thanks Fergie-ferg!

Check out some of my favorites - sizes 5-15 :

Fergie Women's Pepper Shoe

These chunky heels will raise you up sky high, but the addition of a platform will take some of the pressure off your tired tootsies - so you can keep shakin' your lovely lady lumps all night! Plus the crossed straps and buckles add a cool bondage flair to lend a badass chick vibe to your sexy stiletto heels!
Fergie Women's Pepper - $129

BONUS: The gilded bottom is fit for a Boho Glam Queen!

Before you go, check out the song that may have inspired this whole idea, does Fergie have a foot fetish, or just a good old-fashioned love for shoes?

Let Me See Ya Grill

It's the season for outdoor grilling and gathering! Gather your posse and chow down on some of my favorite summer fare:

To start, simply pop open the barbecue and grill up some good old American food: burgers and hot dogs - for a fun twist, do some in miniature!

- -hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhGirl with Burger - La Bohémienne photography, Hot Dog - Roy Lichtenstein

Make sure to provide your guests with all the standard condiments, (ketchup, mustard, relish, etc.) plus some more interesting toppers like finely cut grilled bell peppers for the hot dogs, and grilled avocado slices to top your burgers and sliders (mini burgers) - now just find a manly man to cook it all up while you host this backyard bash!

hhhh In addition to your meats, take advantage of the amazing produce the warm weather brings with sweet summer corn, a fruit salad and a delicious mix of greens...

With fruit salad, you really can't go wrong, just cut up any fruit you feel like mixing, from berries to melon, to citrus - just be sure to avoid anything with seeds, dispose of any fruit pits, and, in my personal opinion, skip the apples - experience tells me they quickly lose their flavor when sitting out in the hot sun. To finish it off, put your colorful mixture in a bowl or even a large vase to show it off, and squeeze some lemon juice over it all to keep the fruit from getting soggy during your festivities.

.......

As for a salad, mix up something light, crisp, and refreshing. Skip the heavy Caesar dressing, and try something a little sweeter, here are the ingredients I enjoy in a summer salad - mix in any ratio you like:

Mixed Greens
Spinach
Bleu Cheese
+
Candied Walnuts and/or Unsalted Shredded Almonds
+
Dried Cranberries and/or Dried Cherries
+
Red Grapes
+
Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing -
try Marie's salad dressing: top quality ingredients and a superb taste!

You can't have a summer party without a thirst-quenching summer cocktail! Here are two great recipes that are perfect in big batches for your outdoor bash:

Ingredients

1 Bottle of your favorite white wine
(This recipe is just as delicious with a good red wine, if you so choose)
1 Lemon cut into wedges
1 Orange cut into wedges
1 Lime cut into wedges
1 Peach cut into wedges
1 Cup sliced strawberries
1/2 Cup lemonade or limeade
1/2 Cup Sugar
2 shots of apricot, peach or "berry" flavored brandy
2 Cups ginger ale
Optional: one can of diced pineapple pieces with juice

Preparation

Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon, orange and lime into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible) and add sliced peaches, strawberries limeade/lemonade, sugar and brandy. Chill overnight. Add gingerale and ice just before serving. If you'd like to serve right away, use chilled white wine and serve over lots of ice.

These little delights are only 100 calories, have both chocolate and vanilla ice cream inside, so there is something to please all your peeps, and are self comportable - the cover even doubles as a spoon, so they have the only necessary utensil inside!

Lindy's Homemade Italian Ice

Lindy's Homemade Italian Ice is a great alternative for your non-lactose-loving guests. More slushie than solid, this dessert goes down smooth and has the best texture of any single-serve Italian ice I've ever tried - plus at a cool 100 calories and available in 7 different flavor options, this is the only slush welcome during the summer months!

Garden Party

As the summer days pass quickly by, it's time to make sure you put any and everything floral you own to good use, and who says you can't pick up a few more items on the way? Here are some great pieces in full bloom...

Flower Power:

The lowdown: a few garden-inspired accessories can add a seasonal flair to any simple summer ensemble. For a fresh take, try clipping some real flowers into your locks, no garden - no problem, the flower hair clips, from Banana Republic (above) do a great impersonation of a real flower.

1. Forever 21
2. This flowy, flowery number from Diane von Furstenberg is the epitome of hippie-chic for summer by the pool. The fit is loose and free enough to lend an unfussy air to your look, while still being short and open to keep the outfit flirty and young - not to mention you can show off your cute new suit by letting it peek through the top!
3. Lulu's
4. Kimchi Blue
5. Old Navy
7. Forever 21
6. $ Splurge - ish $
This Moss Mills ring is such a cute way to wear environmentally-inspired jewelry, has amazing detail, plus is made of real silver, because even though we wanna
think green, wear green, and live green - we don't want our fingers to turn green ... But at $94 it's something you may have to save up some green for ...

Don't forget, outdoorsy pieces do not always have to mean flowers...

8. $ SPLURGE $ Ali Ro
9. Delia's
10. This leafy headband from Urban Outfitters is a modern twist on a classic hippie favorite, the daisy chain, except with today's version you don't end up with dead daisies in your hair at the end of the day!
11. Kimchi Blue
12. Forever 21 - $2.80 !
13. Banana Republic - $12 each
14. bracelet - Lulu's

Alright Hippie Luxers, that is just about everything I could dig up for you in garden fashion, but there will be much more summer fun from me sprouting up very soon! In the mean time, start planting, or shopping, whichever comes more naturally !

Peace and Love,

la bohémienne
